About LPG

What is LPG?

·         Liquefied Petroleum Gas is composed predominantly of propane, butane, and propylene and butylene may be present in the mixture of these gases.

·         When LPG is compressed it becomes a liquid. When LPG is released from a cylinder the pressure drops and it reverts to a gas.

·         LPG expands 270:1 when it changes from liquid to gas, which means you get 270 litres of gas for every litre of liquid LPG .

·         LPG vapour is 1.5 times heavier than air and sinks to the ground when released or if it leaks.

·         LPG has no natural odour; a distinctive odorant is added so that it can be detected by humans should a leak occur.

·         LPG is environmentally friendly with lower exhaust emissions compared to unleaded petrol; 15% lower Carbon Dioxide emissions, and 80% less Toxic Emissions.
